Welcome

Dawn Wakefield – an experienced patient teacher

Based in the centre of Fakenham, North Norfolk, I offer one-to-one tuition in piano, flute, recorders and music theory to adults and children from age 5 upwards.

I am an accredited member of both the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) and the European Recorder Teachers Association (ERTA).

IMG_9029A wide variety of musical styles and repertoire are covered in the lessons given, with something to suit all tastes. Many students choose to work towards grade exams (ABRSM, Trinity, MTB or Rockschool); preparation for GCSE and A-level performance exams can also be covered in the lessons. Many adults and some younger pupils however learn simply to play for their own enjoyment.

I aim to give pupils a fulfilling experience – opening their ears and minds to all kinds of music: classical, jazz, pop and folk – helping them to welcome music as a vital part of their lives and personal development.

Playing music can bring us all so much joy and is also an emotional support through the difficult times of life.

IMG_8998A few of my students go onto serious further study of music at university or a conservatory, however for the majority it becomes an energising and uplifting part of their everyday life. Playing music is a very balancing activity which involves our mind, emotions, physical movement and breath. When we give it our total attention, even for a short time, it energizes us, as it takes us totally away from all the usual worries and concerns of our day-to-day life.

Please have a read of what my pupils have to say about their music lessons – that will give you the best idea of what is on offer!
